A major activity undertaken by CENWOR in 2016 was the holding of the 15th National Convention on Women’s Studies. Three new research studies were initiated while several projects that commenced in previous years were continued or completed. The funding situation for NGOs has become increasingly challenging in recent years due to economic conditions in countries that provide funding. This situation is exacerbated by the emergence of consultancy firms ‘bidding’ for projects that run counter to the ethos of women’s NGOs and standards maintained by CENWOR. Therefore, CENWOR feels the need to diversify and look for new funding sources. It also needs to develop new strategies, enter into broad-based partnerships with like-minded organisations, and complement the available skills at CENWOR while improving organisational performance. In this endeavour the inputs of all members of CENWOR will be invaluable.
