Annual Reports

These months have been overshadowed by the Tsunami disaster that devastated the eastern, northern, southern and south –western coastal belt unexpectedly on 26 th December 2004, and created unprecedented loss of lives, shelter and livelihood, displacement of families and disruption of basic services. Since then the provision of relief in the process of food, temporary shelter, restoration of education and health services and infrastructure, protection of orphaned children, and psycho-support for these traumatised by their tragic experiences has received priority at national and local levels.

Immediate relief has been followed by support to restore livelihoods and to facilitate the provision of permanent housing. Generous assistance has flowed in from donor organisations and individuals. CENWOR is contributing to the process of relief and recovery with its limited resources augmented by funds from organisations and individuals. Information regarding these programmes is given in Section VII. of the Report.
