The Fifteenth National Convention on Women’s Studies was held on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2016 at the Renuka City Hotel Colombo and at CENWOR.  The Convention was supported by UNFPA, UNHCR, UN Women and the Asia Foundation. The theme for the Convention, as it was being held during the 16 Days Activism Campaign, was Gender based Violence – in all its manifestations.

The Convention comprised the inaugural and ten technical sessions.  The welcome address given by Ms. Leelangi Wanasundera, Director CENWOR was followed by the opening remarks of Mr. Alain Sibenaler, Representative UNFPA Sri Lanka, the address by the Chief Guest Dr. Hiranthi Wijemanne, former Vice Chairperson, UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, and the Keynote Address delivered by the Executive Director of Partners for Law in Development, New Delhi, India.
